Sorry I've been flaking out on blogging lately. I've had no good ideas lately, so I've been trying to do a lot of reading/seeing things/learning about stuff to get inspiration for the things I'll be making for school in the fall. Excuses, excuses.
Since July is basically over, and I have a critique right when school starts, I do really need to hurry up and make some summer work.
^ Here are quick sketches for a big picture about Germany. It should actually be quick to make
^ a (hopefully) structurally sound box that'll end up looking like those pink columns

public transit
-Here are some photos that'll be the basis of the next thing I'll make They're of the Temple University train station, which I see whenever I commute by train. Sorry if these photos don't really capture the essence of what I like about the station-- someone was being mad protective of their car and really wanted to eat lunch.
I just really think the whole train platform has this interesting postmodern look and is really cool looking, especially the columns-- I guess I'm kind of drawn to strange things. Some say I like this train station so much because it looks like a headband and a pair of pants that I have, but I think that's not the reason, just something logical.
I'm going to make a few sculptural things based on those columns. And then, (since my parents would probably not be down with using my house for this) once I'm back at school, I might make some sort of installation/setting for the sculptures.
-First thing, I'll have to go to Home Depot (a place I fear for reasons I might share later) and get some supplies.
The #1 rule of Home Depot: DON'T FUCK AROUND AT HOME DEPOT!
-I'll definitely have photos of the finished Bermuda boat painting up way soon.

post-cruise thoughts
Here's the start to the new painting I'm making for my aunt and uncle. Sorry there's not much done yet, I started one and it ended up being unsalvageable, so I started over. Since we just went on that family cruise vacation together, I'll try to give it some "bermuda vibes". Maybe, since they abstained from the actual boat part of the trip, I should also incorporate some subtle "cruise ship vibes"???
Speaking of the cruise, I kind of blame going away for failing to keep up with my blog schedule lately. I think I got lost in some sort of bermuda triangle internet-thing. Seriously though, since I only have less than 2 months until school resumes, I really need to produce some decent summer work (no boats/at&t i promise).
Lastly, here are some of the top moments of enlightenment/genius that I (and goody) experienced while on that cruise::
-"This is such poorly photographied"
-"I knew when we collided. You're the one, I have decided. I'm going to murder you"
(a variation on this ubiquitous song/cruise ship "jam")
-Goody: It's like we're on vacation with Tobias from Arrested Development
Me: At least he's not cool
Me: Wait. I just meant "he's not cool". I don't know what the "at least" was for
-Me: Ben, what animals live in the ocean?
Me: Are there fish in the ocean?
Ben: The ocean is empty

at&t book pages (carbonite recovery edition)
Here are some more AT&T book pages. I had to weed out the pages I didn't like, and then get it to a page number that was divisible by four, so I decided to make some new ones before publising it-- fascinating. I've such a pitiful job of blogging lately, but I'm definitely getting my act together, in ways. I'm making a painting (on canvas!) for my aunt and uncle which should be mostly done for Monday.

temporary link post
Unfortunately, my computer died, and I'm backing things up onto the new one, so I couldn't really make a real post for today. Things should be settled by like....Wednesday, and I'll have a new, content-containing post ready then.
In the meantime, here's an article that my sculpture professor sent me about how cell phone companies have recently been using the look of some postmodern art works for their ads-- so maybe I was inadvertently perceptive about this at&t/postmodernism connection?

~~~~~shutter island~~~~~
Unfortunately, this week has been really crazy, so I didn't have time to make anything new. Also, there will be no new content next week because I'll be on a cruise, completely without internet access.
However, I'll have a lot of time to chill and come up with good, new ideas, so next Monday, functional blogging will resume and I'll really have my act together.
shout out to ikea pt. 2
Here are the mostly finished pillows-- they still have big flaws and need some tweaking.
Sorry I don't have two posts ready for today like I promised. My rather improvisational sewing techniques have started to fail me, so I kept having to fix my own mistakes to get these somewhat done.
Even though the one pillow (illegibly) says "meth", I'm not advocating meth use. DON'T DO METH!!!!
shout out to ikea
Here's the start to my new, very crafty project that I've started. I figured I needed some new pillows for my room next year, and just decided to make them myself. I haven't gotten very far because I realized I need to get some thick, heavy duty needles. For those who really adhere to the idea of a strict division between real art versus crafts, I promise, I'll finish this up really quickly and make some big paintings soon.
AT&T, BP
I've been really busy this week, so I haven't really done much for my newest project. But, for now, here are some more pages from my AT&T book (that should be completed soon). I guess it's vaguely relevant to post these now since BP is trying to do some damage control right now. I don't think even Luke Wilson could clean up their corporate image.
mj book pt. 5 (peter pan syndrome edition)
Here are the remaining prints from the Michael Jackson printmaking final project. These ones are really the worst ones. Sorry I didn't make anything truly new yet-- I blame Memorial Day weekend for my lack of productivity.
Now that I'm pretty much out of old things to post about, I've gotta step up, move on, and make something new for Friday.
mj book pt. 4
Here are three more Michael Jackson prints. Sorry for coasting on stuff I made during finals and being so repetitive.
I'm starting a new, kind of "crafty" project that I'll be able to show for Monday's post. I was going to start working on that last night to have something ready for today, but, unfortunately, I got involved with this series of dares/calling bluffs that all culminated in me seeing Sex and the City 2-- poor choice.
mj book pt. 3
Here are some more prints from the Michael Jackson print book. Sorry if it seems like I'm stretching old things out for awhile. I did a particularly bad job of packing/moving out this year, so I left most of my art supplies back in my studio at school. But I'll either get it back or just get new stuff, so I can get started on some new projects.
a classic example of my packing skills:
a pillow case containing power strips, contact lenses, light bulbs, a handle of vodka, hangers, and batteries
